A mechanical switching device is a device used to make or break the flow of a current. When combined with a measuring and control device, they are known as a switchgear. Examples of switchgears include circuit breakers, contactors, isolators, fuse links, relays, and more. In this blog, we will discuss the most common types of switchgears and their function. A circular connector is a multi-pin connector used primarily for external interfacing. They can be used for data transfer, electrical signal transmissions, or for powering electrical devices. Circular connectors are sometimes designed to carry what may be referred to as a mixed signal, and are sometimes known as power and control connectors. In this blog, we will discuss circular connectors in depth. Read more >>

A varistor, also known as a voltage-dependent resistor, is an electronic component whose function is to protect other devices from high transient voltage. A metal oxide varistor, or MOV, is a specific type of resistor made from a combination of zinc oxide & other types of metal oxides including manganese, cobalt, and others. The material is arranged between two metal plates or electrodes to interact with each other. Varistors of this type are used most commonly in heavy devices to protect them from transient voltages. MOVs are the same as resistors in that they both consist of two leads that don’t have polarity. Read more >>

A diode is an electronic device with two terminals that conduct current primarily in one direction. They feature a low resistance in one direction (ideally zero), and high resistance in the other (ideally infinite). They have a wide range of uses and there are many different types of diodes available. The different properties of these varying diodes allow each one to perform in specialized functions. Below are the most common types of diodes and their uses. Read more >>

When using technology that relies on the use of radio frequencies, such as AM and FM radio, it is important that they are able to function without interruption or interference. Two major inhibitors of electronics using radio frequency are electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio-frequency interference (RFI). These two types of disturbances are problematic as they can detract from the efficiency of a circuit, or even stop it altogether. These interferences are caused by many natural phenomena and man-made sources including cell networks, solar flares, ignition systems, and more. Because of EMIs and RFIs causing errors and loss of data, it is important to have a way of combating their effect on electronic devices. Read more >>

A stepper motor is an electromechanical device that can convert electrical power into mechanical power. Stepper Motors are brushless and synchronous electrical motors that can split up a full rotation into a multiple number of steps. The position of the motor can be managed accurately without any feedback mechanism if the motor is attentively sized to the application. The theory of operation is used by the stepper motor. This theory makes the shaft of the motor turn an accurate distance when a pulse of electricity is supplied. Read more >>

Although Heat Shrink and Cold Shrink tubing look almost identical from the surface, their internal characteristics are incredibly different. Each of the tubing has a different insulation technique, different applications, and different physical properties. The tubing can be for a variety of applications including but not limited to, splicing, terminating, and environmental seals. This kind of tubing is more cost effective and easier on the environment than most other similar tubing. Read more >>

The twenty-first century has been one of the most technology advanced era to date. With new smart devices releasing simultaneously on the market it is difficult for the consumer to keep up with the latest products. Despite the difference of companies or different style of device, most of them share the same type of units used to build each of them. The same parts such as ICs and other common components are used to build the mobile devices in the industry. Read more >>
